A Study Tour to Guangzhou

A study trip ¡§¸ÀÅܪº¯ª°ê¡¨ to Guangzhou was organized for teachers on 21- 22 November 2008. Toyota Motor Company and book centre were visited. Some historical sites like ¡§«Â»·¬¶¥x¡¨, ¡§®ü¾Ô³Õª«À]¡¨ and ¡¨³¯®a¯¨¡¨ were also the sightseeing spots in the trip. Visiting these scenic spots, teachers have gained a better understanding of the history and enhanced the relationship among them.

Our Lady Queen of Peace, Medugorje

On 12 November, 2008, Sr. Claire-Marie (a Sister of the Community of the Beatitudes, Macau) and Ms. Michelle Yau (a member of Children of Medugorje, Hong Kong) were invited to our School to share with us the apparition and messages of Blessed Virgin Mary in Medugorje in 1981 ¡V on 24 June, 1981, six children in the town of Medugorje, Yugoslavia (today, Bosnia-Herzegovina), experienced an encounter with Blessed Virgin Mary. This apparition delivered a message of peace for the world and a call to conversion, prayers and fasting. The sharing of Sr Claire-Marie and Michelle was really inspiring. Both teachers and students understood the major messages of Medugorje. We ended this meaningful afternoon with songs and prayers in the presence of God.

Staff Development Day
24 October 2008

The first Staff Development Day of this year was held on 24 October 2008 with the themes of ¡§¾Ç¥Í°ö¨|¡¨ and Assessment Literacy. As for the morning session, some of our colleagues and guest speakers, Ms Hung and Ms Ng from Yan Oi Tong Tin Ka Ping Secondary School were invited to share with us their valuable experiences on ¡§¾Ç¥Í°ö¨|¡¨ and we benefited a lot from them. The sharing sessions aroused our awareness of the importance of ¡§¾Ç¥Í°ö¨|¡¨ and we are more conscious of the role we are playing in this aspect. In the afternoon, Dr Chiu from CUHK conducted a workshop on Assessment Literacy, which has given us some insights into this topic.

S1- S3 First Outing
23 October 2008

Other Learning Experiences section organized an outing for S1 to S3 students in the afternoon of 23rd October 2008. S1 visited Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, S2 enjoyed ¡§Creativity Through Learning¡¨ by the Exploration Theatre in Tsuen Wan Town Hall and S3 visited Hong Kong Heritage Museum.

Training Workshop for ECA Committee Members
18 October 2008

In the morning of 18th October 2008, Extra-curricular Activities Committee members participated in a training workshop organized by Student Organization Team, which is jointly held by the School Social Worker and Zion Children and Youth Integrated Service Centre. Though the interactive games, students learned how to cooperate and communicate with each other, it helped strengthened their leadership skills.

School Culture Day Scheme
2 October 2008

In the afternoon of 2nd October 2008, our S1 students enjoyed an "Interactive Percussion Fun" organized by the Hong Kong Percussion Centre at Tuen Mun Town Hall. The programme included an introduction of different types of percussion instruments, such as African drums, Brazilian drums and xylophones, as well as their structure, history and cultural background. During the performance, some students were invited to join their interactive performances. Students showed a great interest in the activity.

2008-2009 New School Year Opening Mass
9 September 2008

On the 9th of September 2008, the Supervisor, Principal, teachers, staff and students gathered at the School Hall for the new school year opening mass. We followed this year¡¦s school theme ¡§Be an interdependent learner¡¨ as the theme of the mass as well. We were happy to have been able to invite Fr. Alfredo Rollon, from St. Edward¡¦s Parish to officiate this liturgical celebration with us. With prayers and songs, we joined together as a Tak Oi family, to thank God and to face the new school year with optimism and hope!

Demonstration of ECA Groups
9 September 2008

Our Extra-curricular Activities groups held a demonstration for S.1 and S.2 students on 9th September 2008. The students enjoyed watching the wonderful performance by various interest groups. The performing groups included Western Instrumental Group, Chinese Instrumental Groups, Dance Club, Karate Club and Taekwondo Club.
