The Mission Day was successfully held on 12 April, 2019. The whole school community had a marvelous time on that day. We began the Mission Day with the sharing of MIC Mission in Africa (Feb, 2019) by Sr. Mary Olga Lam, Sr. Catherine Wan and staff from Good Hope Primary School cum Kindergarten. Sr. Catherine and the staff shared with us how meaningful and joyful to have had a chance to join the Mission Tour to encounter a culture which is completely different from what we have in Hong Kong. They were also impressed by the simple and humble life the children of Malawi are living. They are easily satisfied and are always grateful for what they have. Besides, Sr. Mary also reminded us about the spirit of Lenten Season, i.e. The Glory of God is a Person Fully Alive. After the sharing of the MIC Mission in Africa, we had two sharing sessions by Stephanie Tam of 2A to share her experience in joining the Focolare Movement (普世博愛運動) in South Korea (Jan, 2019) and Evangeline Lau, our alumni and a student from Tak Sun Secondary School about their encounter in attending the World Youth Day in Panama (Jan,2019). It was not only an eye-opening experience for them to learn about and participate in these two international gatherings of youth from across the world, but also a spiritual journey for them to deepen their faith and grow closer to Jesus Christ.
After the sharing session, we had “Mission Impossible” organized by student leaders and helpers from the four Houses, Student Union, Sport Teams, Catholic Formation Student Team together with T&L Department. A variety of mission tasks had been designed which was not only challenging, but also great fun to experience.
The Mission Day concluded with the Lenten Prayer Service. It reminded us the spirit of Lent and resurrection of Jesus to bring us peace, faith, hope, love and joy in the Lenten Season. In the Prayer Service, all of us could experience Hunger Meal which gave us a chance to taste the humble lives of the underprivileged through eating a simple bun. Donation was collected for the mission of MIC in Africa during the Hunger Meal.
